Good Information About Aluminum Wiring

Happy Spring!

Hope you are doing well and enjoying the start of a better home market season. It has been a while since I have seen aluminum wiring used for lighting circuits during a home inspection.

With the recent upswing in sales of older homes, I have started to see aluminum wiring again. Aluminum wiring was installed in some neighborhoods built in the mid-to late 1960's to the early 1970's.  As you may know, the tragic fire at the Beverly Hills Supper Club on May 28, 1977, helped to create an awareness of the potential problems with this type of wiring.

Most of my clients today, and some agents, are not aware of the potential problems and approved repair methods for aluminum wiring connections. There are devices today, installed by certified, electrical contractors that greatly reduce the problems with aluminum wiring.  Aluminum wiring does not have to jinx the home sale.
